Common Barriers To Becoming An Entrepreneur

The idea and concept of entrepreneurship has been around for many many years and quite frankly it is something that everyone at some point in their lives considers taking on. So why don’t more people follow through on their aspirations to be an entrepreneur? What are some of the most common factors that act as barriers to people becoming full fledged entrepreneurs? I thought I would write about a few of these because as my grandfather used to tell me being able to identify what it is that is stopping you is half the battle to moving forward.

So what do you think are some of the more common factors that prevent people from following their entrepreneurial spirit? Well if you thought of risk as a determining factor you would be correct. The very definition of being an entrepreneur should have in it’s definition the ability to take risks. For every person that is an entrepreneur they were willing to take risks and face them head on. The very idea of venturing into a risky situation is not a very pleasant feeling to a lot of people and a lot of us spend our lives trying to limit our exposure to risks on a daily basis.

Another deterring factor is your passion! It’s very hard now a days for most people to stay focused and passionate about any idea for more than a few minutes. Let’s face it people want satisfaction immediately, results need to happen fast or people will just move on to the next idea. Being an entrepreneur involves long term goals that need to be gone after with enthusiasm and passion other wise people loose their drive and simply don’t follow through.

Corporate World Meet Web2.0Are you seeing a pattern here? I only listed two things here but both of them are traits that relate to each individual on a personal level. You see the true entrepreneurs are those people that are risk takers they are prudent about the decisions they make and they execute their actions with drive, passion and enthusiasm. Never loosing site of the big picture with the big picture being the success of their idea being put into action on a grand scale. Just imagine the people who started companies like eBay, Yahoo, Amazon and YouTube!
