The Perfect Storm For Your Entrepreneurial Spirit

Will the entrepreneurial spirit be the key ingredient to leading the economy out of the recession? It’s that very thing that the US government is counting on to help stimulate growth back into the local economies around the country. President Obama and his administration have made it very clear that small businesses and those with the entrepreneurial spirit are their focus with the steps they are taking to ease the credit crisis like funding self employment programs and  guaranteeing loans to small businesses.

Now is a great time if you happen to be one of those people with that affliction called the entrepreneurial spirit. I refer to the entrepreneurial spirit as an affliction because for a lot of people it’s almost like a curse that can only be exercised in the perfect storm of situations. You need a lot of things to come together for that itch better known as the entrepreneurial spirit. A lot of those “perfect storm” things that need to happen are happening for a lot of people right now. For example a lot of people are hesitant to break out on their own and start their own business because they have a solid steady job that they have been going to for years. A lot of those steady jobs are gone and that “job” that was holding so many people back from taking a chance on pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams are going for it now. You figure that you are already out of work why not take your shot at making your own work.

Another common obstacle to following your entrepreneurial spirit would be the availability of extra funding to get your business idea off the ground. Well again thanks to the recession the US government has stepped up efforts for the small business owner and those who want to start their own small business to have easier access to lines of credit and loans for start up costs.

Now I just pointed out two things that are the results of a recessed economy, two things that for a lot of people would not be seen as opportunities. How ever on the other hand a person that is driven by an entrepreneurial spirit is the very type of person to step up and take advantage of “perfect storm” situations like this to finally start that business for themselves. The call to be your own boss is a call that not many people have the confidence to answer but for those that can the results can turn into something huge.

Take for example the names of these companies, Hyatt, Burger King, FedEx, Microsoft, CNN and GE are all companies that were launched during depressed economies. Now I am sure that all of us have heard of all those companies that I just listed. Were you aware that they were all started by individuals with the entrepreneurial spirit who saw a recessed economy as an opportunity to break out on their own, be their own boss and start their own small business and making it big!

So what is the big secret to the success of companies like those ones I just mentioned? I think if you took a closer look at their history you will find some common themes in all of their success stories. Other than the fact that they all started during a recessed economy that basic common ingredient for all those people that started those companies with nothing more than their own entrepreneurial spirit. Is that fact that they all recognized a need in what ever particular market they were interested in. Either for a new product a new service or just a different way of doing an already established business. They all recognized that there was a need and they tapped into that market big time.

Now I am sure that there are some of you out there that are reading this right now that have an idea for a product or service that is needed right now. Well now may be that perfect storm of events for you to finally pursue that entrepreneurial spirit that you have burning inside you.  One last story of a company that was started during what is referenced as the “great depression” or perhaps the perfect storm ;-)   This company was launched in a garage by two men who had that entrepreneurial spirit in the small town of Palo Alto, CA. With an initial  start up investment of five hundred and thirty eight dollars, which was a lot of money back in the day and still is now for a lot of people. Today that company is one of the biggest technology companies in the world as they operate in countries around the globe, they are known as HP or the Hewlett-Packard Company. So if your thinking that the economy is in a recession and now may not be the best time to start your own business. I would encourage you to do a little historical fact checking on some of those companies I just mentioned for some more stories of entrepreneurial inspiration. If you have the right idea and the courage to pursue it then now may be the right time and just that perfect storm of circumstances that your entrepreneurial spirit has been waiting for.

        JeepnDave,

Thank you very much for your response. In my search for answers, most of what I have found is for people with extreme disabilities. Therein lies the problem because not everyone is dysfunctional to that degree. You’d be surprised to know that 99.9% of the sources I found, I consider to be a joke, and are designed to add more insult to injury. However, I shall keep looking. My innate intuition tells me that my answer can not be found in this world, but from a higher source.
